Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:

When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To get the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Newly remodeled! Summer dates open! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific New Bern destination you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
