Tips to get the very best rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Make a plan and choose yourrental home:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Coastal Getaway with Ocean Views – 2BR/2BA at A Place at the Beach 364 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
