Tricks and tips to get the best New Bern vacation home experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Atlantic Beach. Book your New Bern vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking the perfect New Bern rental:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Family friendly studio with sound, beach, and pool access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

During your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
