Handsome DIRECT OCEAN FRONT duplex a few hundred yards from the only Fishing Pier on the west end of the island. Both Whithaven 1 & Whithaven 2 are owned by the Whitley family. The Oceanana Pier is just steps away from 'Whithavens' additional sizable deck. Each side has 3 BR's (king, queen and 2 twins) and 2 1/2 baths plus an additional enormous L shaped couch. The kids adore sleeping on the couch too so everybody can savor themselves. (dog friendly too with additional pet fee).

During our covid period remodel, the whole unit was repainted, new ceilings and more upgrades plus increased parking up front from renovating our entry enclosure is sure to please. We use lock boxes for keys so no in person contact is standard for our units. We have an outside enclosed shower with HOT and cold water to rinse off after the beach or to use for your everyday shower (which I highly recommend and great for family pets too).

As an added feature we freshly installed a UVC germicidal light in the ductwork to kill any viruses or mold to help keep the air clean and provide help for allergy suffers.

We provide pretty much everything you need to walk into the unit and appreciate your stay. We provide linens, bath towels, paper goods when available (restock if you can and bring some just in case), entirely supplied kitchen including many spices and nearly everything you need other than food and your favorite beverages. We have a hammock, beach chairs, beach toys, outside grille (replaced in 2022) and hotel grade deck and lounge chairs. We can't promise sunshine but the weather is usually better than at home. Bring your own beach towels and toiletries and you will be ready for a calming vacation.

2019 & 2020 updates include new floor, new paint, new refrigerator, new dishwasher, new linen service included and our massive deck is ready for you. Also, our new cleaning service is focused on providing the best possible service for each and every stay with enhanced cleaning procedures per 2022 guidelines.

We have a completely supplied kitchen with various spices, zip lock bags, aluminum foil etc. are standard. Spare paper products (when available) are in the bottom drawer beside the refrigerator. Please replace what you use if you can for the next guests.

Let's face it, you come to the beach to enjoy the beach so you might as well be RIGHT ON THE OCEAN with a massive deck made for 'appreciating' all the beach ambiance you can. While we make the inside as comfortable as we can with TV's, nice beds and full kitchen, it's really about being outside at the beach.

That's why we tore down our old deck and replaced it with a 3 level deck. Each side has their own 3rd level upstairs deck off of each master bedroom with a privacy wall in the middle. It's ideal for working on your tan in private or enjoying the sunsets. The main living area has an additional huge deck with a bar top constructed around each side of the privacy wall. This gives you privacy when you want it but makes it simple to enjoy your family and friends outside whenever you want. We provide plenty of chairs and picnic tables so you can choose to eat outside or simply enjoy your favorite drink (or 2 or 3) while watching the waves crash on the beach or watching the fishermen on the pier. The additional wide walkway (ideal for strolling hand in hand with someone special) takes you down the steps to the lower deck that is ideal for some additional privacy or can be used as a smoking section away from the main unit.

The ground level has picnic tables and a gas grille for each side. When you come in off of the beach if you feel like an outdoor shower each side has their own covered and enclosed shower underneath the deck with HOT and cold water. Rinse off your surfboard (one of the prime surfing spots on the whole Island), your pets or rinse off the sand from the supplied body boards and beach chairs.

The garage is ideal for storing your bicycles or additional outdoor items like kayaks, paddle boards or parking a car. Dart board and corn hole give you something to do on those rainy days. Whithaven really is a special place. Please book your stay and become one of the Whithaven clan.

If Whithaven 2 is unavailable for your dates the other side of the property may be avalable or book both for your group. Whithaven 1 (666413) is the sister side of the duplex and also is on Vacation Rental By Owner/HomeAway. If you can't find it send me an e-mail and I will check the status as well. If you have any other questions please e-mail, text or call Lee.

*** Please note linen and bath towel service IS supplied in the base rate. Beds are King, Queen and Twins. ***

Parking for 2 or 3 cars is normal but if you have greater parking needs please contact the owner to discuss prior to booking.

Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:

When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best vacation home in Atlantic Beach:

  • Start by having your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. DIRECT OCEANFRONT Duplex with large 3 level deck next to Oceanana Fishing Pier. has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
