Our top Atlantic Beach rental home booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your New Bern rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. A Place at the Beach resort Family Fun!150'Waterslide, indoor pool&Putt Putt has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
