Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental home:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Due South - Oceanfront Condo in the heart of Atlantic Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific New Bern destination you crave, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
