New Bern vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Cosgrove's Cove has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
