Finding the best New Bern rental home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Reserve your New Bern rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the right New Bern vacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Cosgrove's Cove has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
