Tips and Tricks to get the very best New Bern vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 3rd-row beach cottage with ocean views, beach access, deck, & grill has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More considerations:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
