About the Area

Located in Atlantic Beach, this condo is on the beach. Fort Macon State Park and Beaufort Historic Site are local landmarks, and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Hoop Pole Creek Nature Trail and Rachel Carson Reserve. North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and North Carolina Maritime Museum are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Atlantic Beach. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.

  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
