Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Indian Beach. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking your New Bern rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Summer Winds A-416, Almost Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
