Booking the best Atlantic Beach rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your New Bern vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking the perfectrental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Waterfront condo with balcony, grill, washer/dryer, AC, pool, game room, & gym has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
