How to find the best New Bern rental home experience:

Find your best deal:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking the rightrental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. The Saltbox-Home in Atlantic Beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a specific New Bern beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
