Our top Emerald Isle rental home tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local shops and restaurants.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in the New Bern area:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sound Of The Sea North 205, Oceanview Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you long to visit, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
