Rental booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Summertime is high season in Atlantic Beach. To book the best rental within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Double Queen-Unit 107 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
