Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:

When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Custom Beachfront Home, (Pet Friendly) Oceanfront Oasis to relax and recharge. has 2 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, email the host before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
