Our top Emerald Isle rental property booking tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your New Bern rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best vacation home in Emerald Isle:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Emerald Club, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
