Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Carolina House - Steps to Beach, Fantastic Location! Walk to All Attractions has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you simply love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
