Croatan National Forest and Emerald Isle Beach reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Salty Pirate Water Park and Emerald Forest Golf. When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a rental home:

• Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
• The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
• Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
• Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
