Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
How to choose and book the bestrental:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Between Sound & Sea - Private Beachfront Parking Lot Access has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you are crazy about, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
