Tips and Tricks for getting the best New Bern rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing the bestrental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Pier Pointe 1A3, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular New Bern attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
