Tips to get the very best rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Our Getaway Two has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
