How to get the best vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- To get the best value, try changing your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best rental in New Bern:
- Start by having your group select date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Fairfield Harbour resort with WI-FI and Recreation Center membership included has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
