How to book the best New Bern rental home experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Unique 2 Bedroom Condo
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
