How to find the best Beaufort vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the perfect rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Mulberry Street Cottage- 5 Blocks to Beaufort Waterfront - 205.00 for 1-2 People has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
