How to book the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Impeccable Oceanview Home with elevator, hot tub, private pool has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. text the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
