Strategies to get the best rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect rental in Emerald Isle:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. NEW DATES OPEN in Sept! AMAZING Beachfront Home at The Point and a private POOL! has 10 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
