Booking the best New Bern rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the right New Bern rental home:
- Start by having your family commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Lovely Ocean View! Easy Walk to Beach, Shopping, and Water Park! Boogie Boards! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
