Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect rental home in the New Bern area:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Coastal Casita by the River has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
