Tricks and tips for getting the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your New Bern vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the best rental home:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. “Castaways\" Atlantic Beach Family Fun Cottage has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you crave, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
