Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental:
- To start, have your family select the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Cordelia, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
