Strategies to get the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:
- First and foremost, have your group choose date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Redone Luxury Waterfront at The Point w\/ Heated Pool, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Game Rm has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
