Rental home tips:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your search:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Redone Luxury Waterfront at The Point w\/ Heated Pool, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Game Rm has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual New Bern destination you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
