Tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:
- To get the best value, change your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the best New Bern rental home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Charming studio in lovely Emerald Isle with beach access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
