How to find the best New Bern vacation rental experience:

When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and choosing your prefect New Bern rental:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. BEAUTIFUL Condo in the Perfect Location has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If there's a specific New Bern attraction you crave, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
