Strategies to get the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Reserve your New Bern rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Beach Time has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
