New Bern vacation rental tips:
Getting the best value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try shifting your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Anticipation, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual New Bern destination you love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
