How to get the best vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Filter your search:
- First, have your group agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. NEW - DISCOUNT JUNE 17 WEEK has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
