Strategies for getting the perfect New Bern vacation property experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summer time is high season in Atlantic Beach. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your family choose date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. All you need for a beach getaway! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
