Our top New Bern vacation rental home tips:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 107 W Bogue Blvd Unit 3 Sleeps 7-2 BR-3 Levels-Overlooks Pool-steps from Beach has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain New Bern destination you love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your invoice.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
