Tricks and tips to get the very best New Bern vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the perfect vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 200 Boardwalk, Oceanfront House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If not, email the host before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
