Strategies to get the optimal New Bern rental home experience:
When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking the right New Bern rental home:
- First, have your group select vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Waterfront, Poolside, King Bd, Ground-Floor, & WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your contract.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
