How to find the best New Bern vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Beaufort rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental in the New Bern area:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Why Knot Getaway…Rooftop with WaterView! Unit E has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
