How to get the best rental home value:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best rental within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Why Knot Getaway…Rooftop with WaterView! Unit E has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you crave, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
