Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the bestrental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beach Villa with Tropical Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
