New Bern vacation rental booking tips:
Sticking to a budget:
- To find the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. TOP POCKET FIND takes on Emerald Isle, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
