Pine Knoll Shores rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To find the best rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick your New Bern vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Point Prospect Shores- Ocean Front Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
