New Bern rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental:

  • To start, have your family choose trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Unique 2 Bedroom Condo
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
