Rental home booking tips:
Getting the best rental home value:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and picking the rightrental home:
- First, have your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Coastal Soul B- water view and beach access\n\n has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
