How to book the best New Bern vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the best rental in Emerald Isle:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. The Emerald Cottage - renovated 1950s beach cottage one block to beach , hot tub has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
