Getting the best vacation property experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a rental home:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sound of the Sea West 213 - Almost Oceanfront 1BR, 1BA, complex amenities has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
