Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Small condo facing Inner Coastal Waterway & directly across street from beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
