Finding the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing a perfectvacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Shore 'Nuff, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Additional considerations:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
